The highly rated card still comes with no annual fee and also now offers a $15 monthly statement credit for purchases with meal kit company Home Chef and a $7 monthly statement credit for consumers with an eligible subscription to the Disney Bundle, a streaming subscription that includes Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

What Are the Blue Cash Everyday Card’s Key New Features?

The Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express now earns 3% cash back at U.S. gas stations and on U.S. online retail spending on up to $6,000 in each category each year. Previously, cardholders could earn 2% and 1% back in those categories, respectively.

In addition to the cash back bump, the Home Chef and Disney Bundle credits could come in handy for consumers who use those services. American Express also has eliminated the minimum redemption amount – previously, the minimum balance was $25.

Cardholders can also continue to take advantage of existing benefits, such as 3% cash back on up to $6,000 in groceries at U.S. supermarkets each year and access to American Express Experiences.

Comparing Cards

With these updates, the Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express earns at a higher rate on gas than Discover it chrome, which earns 2% back on gas up to a cap each quarter.

Discover it chrome also earns 2% back at restaurants on up to $1,000 in total spending at gas stations and restaurants each quarter, while the Blue Cash Everyday Card does not earn bonus cash back for restaurant spending. But the Blue Cash Everyday Card has other bonus categories and a higher cap, so you can pick the card that better matches your spending habits.

If you’re looking for a no-annual-fee card with travel rewards, you might consider a card like Chase Freedom Unlimited instead of the Blue Cash Everyday Card. Chase Freedom Unlimited offers 5% back on travel booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards (6.5% during your first year or up to your first $20,000 spent on the card), among other perks.

Should You Get the Blue Cash Everyday Card?

If you want to earn valuable rewards without paying an annual fee, the Blue Cash Everyday Card from American Express is a solid choice.

Consumers who spend regularly in the card’s 3% cash back categories, have an eligible Disney Bundle subscription and use Home Chef are well-positioned to get value out of the card. You should also consider whether you would be able to earn the card’s welcome offer: a $200 statement credit for spending at least $2,000 in your first six months with the card.
