Kamala Harris confirms campaign event with Oprah Winfrey

Kamala Harris’ campaign confirmed Monday that the Democratic candidate for president will participate in a Thursday night livestream event with talk show trailblazer Oprah Winfrey.

The pair will broadcast from an undisclosed location in the Detroit area in front of a “small, in-person audience,” according to the Michigan Chronicle, which first caught wind of the interview over the weekend.

“Whether you’re part of pro-Harris grassroots groups like #WinWithBlackWomen, Swifties for Kamala, or White Dudes for Harris, or even if you are new to our campaign, this will be the place to assemble, organize, and mobilize under one big tent,” an online promo for the gathering reads.

The aforementioned groups — including fans of pop star Taylor Swift, who endorsed Harris after last week’s presidential debate  — have worked to draw attention to the first female presidential candidate’s bid for the nation’s highest office.

Winfrey’s conversation with Harris gets underway at 8 p.m. and is schedule to last two hours. Harris’ camp confirmed the meeting Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The White House said Sunday that Harris was traveling to Michigan, but didn’t mention her date with Winfrey. The 70-year-old billionaire entrepreneur on Saturday confirmed she was hosting Vice President Harris with a video, but didn’t say where.

Winfrey formally endorsed Harris at last month’s Democratic National Committee convention in Chicago.

“Let us choose truth, let us choose honor and let us choose joy!” Winfrey said to an excited crowd in the town where the “Oprah Winfrey Show” taped more than 4,500 episodes between 1986 and 2011.
