“Our parks function as the lungs of the city. They clean our air, they help to lower air temperatures, they absorb stormwater, they have a critical role to play in addressing climate change,” Donoghue said. “But they also are for many New Yorkers where they first learn to ride a bike or throw a ball or have access to the wonders of nature.”
