Former Attorney General Bill Barr laughs off pro-Trump election movie, ‘2000 Mules’

Former Attorney General Bill Barr scoffed at the pro-Trump election lies movie “2000 Mules” as “singularly unimpressive” in newly released testimony to the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

The fired onetime Trump loyalist mocked the ridiculous claims in conservative pundit Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary that purported to expose the election fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

“In a nutshell . . . I was unimpressed with that,” Barr said with a guffaw. “(It’s) singularly unimpressive.”

“The premise if you go by five boxes (of ballots) you’re a mule, that’s just indefensible,” Barr added.

Barr brought up the outlandish allegations in the documentary as evidence that Trump became increasingly wed to untrue conspiracy theories in the weeks after Election Day.

He described one meeting with Trump where he tried in vain to explain the

“I was increasingly demoralized,” Barr said. “I began to think he had become detached from reality.”

“There was little interest in what the actual facts were,” Barr added.

“2000 Mules” purports to prove that mail-in ballots were manipulated on potentially a big enough scale in Atlanta’s Fulton County to allow President Biden to narrowly beat Trump in battleground Georgia.

Despite its debunked claims, the film has been widely praised by far right-wing supporters of Trump and is widely cited as an authoritative source of information about voter fraud.

D’Souza wasted little time lashing out at Barr and defending his work.

“The level of ignorance displayed by Bill Barr here is truly stunning,” D’Souza tweeted minutes after Barr’s testimony aired on national TV.
