Lauren Boebert leads charge to impeach President Joe Biden

Far-right wing Colorado congresswoman Lauren Boebert is asking fellow Republicans to join her efforts to impeach President Joe Biden ahead of next year’s election.

“The privileged resolution I introduced yesterday will force a vote on Joe Biden’s impeachment,” she tweeted Wednesday. “Republicans need to stick together and get this man out office for his dereliction of duty on the Southern Border.”

The 36-year-old conservative also accuses the president of “abuse of power.”

Boebert’s resolution means she can attempt to push a vote without the consent of House leadership. House Democrats said they will move to table the resolution, which the Washington Post reports will prevent representatives from voting to pass it. Further efforts to remove the president from office would almost certainly be killed in the Democrat-controlled Senate.

Biden’s management of immigration at the U.S. border with Mexico is a long standing grievance for House Republicans. Title 42, which ended in May, allowed U.S. officials to more easily turn away asylum seekers during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, though there were limited consequences for those attempting to cross the border illegally. The Biden administration has since implemented new initiatives to curb unlawful entry into the U.S.

Georgia lawmaker Marjorie Taylor Greene is also calling for the president to be removed from office. She appeared on Fox News earlier this week to plead her case to host Maria Bartiromo.

“I think impeachment is fully in order,” the conspiracy theory-spewing congresswoman said.

Greene also implied she has “evidence” linking the president to criminal activity and called for the impeachment of the head of the FBI.

A White House spokesman blamed “extreme House Republicans” for “staging baseless political stunts” in lieu of working with the White House to solve problems, according to the Hill.

Greene and Boebert also joined forces to heckle Biden on national television during his 2022 State of the Union address.
