Assemblywoman Mathylde Frontus Tuesday was leading in another Coney Island fight to hold onto her seat representing Brooklyn’s 46th District.
The incumbent lawmaker led by about a gaping 2-1 margin, turning aside a heated challenge from Dionne Brown-Jordan, a Democratic Party leader, in the competitive district that runs from Bay Ridge to Brighton Beach.
As of 10:50 p.m., Frontus had 3,522 votes or 65.7% compared to 1,841 for Brown-Jordan with 6%.
Frontus may have been expecting a much closer contest based on past history.
She has eked out narrow victories in both the primary and general elections in the district, which Republicans consider a potential pick-up opportunity in deep-blue Brooklyn.
Brown-Jordan seemed to win a big boost when she scored the endorsement of Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), the powerful No. 5 Democrat in Congress.

Jeffries, whom Frontus branded as “part of the Coney Island machine,” also backed Frontus’ primary opponent in 2018, when she squeaked to a win by less than 1 percentage point.
Frontus will face Republican Alec Brook-Krasny, who faces no opposition for the GOP and Conservative lines.
