As soon as we entered Le Sirenuse’s lobby, we realized we were in one of Positano’s most glamorous spots. Blessed by a central location that allows guests to easily reach both the town center and the coastal main road, the hotel is a journey unto itself thanks to a museum-like collection of contemporary art pieces and rare antiques.

Le Sirenuse’s property develops vertically, delivering views over Positano and the Mediterranean Sea. The hotel’s lobby coincides with the fifth and highest level. From there, we toured the hotel descending downwards, using the fast elevator and several sets of stairs decorated with wall paintings and historical memorabilia.

Le Sirenuse’s fourth floor hosts the terrace of Aldo’s, the hotel’s all-day bar and bistro, and several guest salons. We stopped to admire a 2016 art commission, Jitterbug Waltz, a suite of paintings by abstract artist Stanley Whitney.

In the fourth floor’s second salon, we found one of our favorite pieces, a pair of paintings of modern mermaids that face each other across the room. Simply named Le Sirenuse, this artwork belongs to Hungarian-American artist Rita Ackermann and pays homage to the legendary sea creatures with a romantic, mysterious style.

Originally the house chapel, the fourth floor’s final salon is furnished with incredible historical pieces, including the upper part of a Sicilian Baroque organ now set into the wall to hold a valuable collection of 18th- and 19th-century pottery from Caltagirone in Sicily.

The counter of the Don’t Worry Bar is one of the hotel’s most fascinating pieces. Located on the third level, the bar is inspired by classic cocktail culture and features the 18th-century workbench of a Neapolitan jeweler that was restyled in 2020 by Rome-based architect and designer Annalisa Bellettati. The lounge area is furnished with rare old-world furniture, while the adjacent bar room exhibits some of the hotel’s finest contemporary art pieces.

Le Sirenuse’s pool and terrace are also located on the third floor, next to the restaurant dining area. Probably the hotel’s most photographed spot, the pool area offers a sparkling ambiance for both a refreshing day swim or an early evening cocktail.

British artist Martin Creed’s iconic neon installation gives Sirenuse’s bar its memorable name. The installation is built on superimposed strips that can be lit simultaneously to produce a 3D effect or separately.

From Le Sirenuse’s terraces, Positano’s tiny alleys and iconic beach look incredibly close. The hotel offers a boat tour that is highly praised by past visitors, who particularly enjoyed the company of their tour guides.

Past visitors say La Sponda restaurant offers delicious plates in a magical setting. Gentle live music, the Mediterranean view, and meticulous candle lighting and climbing plants make a movie-like setting for a perfect Positano evening.

During our visit, we toured Le Sirenuse’s junior suite superior, a spacious accommodation featuring a small adjacent living area and a terrace equipped with loungers, tables and chairs.

At Le Sirenuse, each accommodation is uniquely styled. We loved the whitewashed walls, linen and light tapestry palette that combined perfectly with the old-world furniture decorating the room.

The suite’s elegant bathroom is enhanced by a Jacuzzi with views of the water, promising a completely relaxed stay to fortunate guests.

Regular Amalfi Coast visitors will know how exceptional it is for such a central hotel like Le Sirenuse to have so many panoramic decks. The private balcony of the junior superior suite boasts not only loungers but also a small table with a glorious view over the Li Galli islands and Positano’s iconic hill.
