Sean Hannity and Eric Trump decry FBI search of Mar-a-Lago

They’re defending daddy.

Fox News went into a full-throated defense of Donald Trump immediately after the former president announced the FBI was searching his Florida home while he was in his New York apartment. That coverage was anchored by Trump surrogate Sean Hannity, who invited the 45th president’s middle son Eric Trump onto his prime-time program on Monday night.

Trump claimed it was he who was notified the FBI was searching his father’s Mar-a-Lago estate and passed along the information. Clearly agitated, the 38-year-old scion ranted about a wide range of “they” who he felt were harassing his family, including media organizations, Federal agents and prosecutors nationwide.

After claiming pressure on his family was a massive effort to stop the former president from being reelected, Trump launched into a rant about President Biden’s son Hunter, whose business dealing are also under investigation.

“And yet Hunter Biden, he did firearms crimes, prostitution, illegal drugs… shady deals with everybody around the world. And by the way, it’s all in his laptop for the whole world to see,” he said. “Where are these FBI agents? Where is everybody? Why is it that the arrows only fly at Donald Trump and his family?”

Trump also blamed the president himself for targeting his predecessor.

“Sean, this didn’t come from the little local FBI field office in Palm Beach, Florida,” Trump alleged. “You know who this came from? This came from one place and one building and that is the White House in Washington, D.C.”

Multiple outlets reported Monday night that the Biden administration was not given advanced notice that Federal agents had a warrant to search Mar-a-Lago. The “raid,” as the former president referred to the investigation, is believed to center around boxes of documents Donald Trump transferred from the White House to his Florida home.

Hannity told Trump’s son that he and his colleagues did everything they could to support the Trump administration amid numerous scandals over the years.

“Eric, you know I covered it every single night and we ended up being vindicated on every single solitary thing that was reported on this show with our full ensemble cast,” Hannity claimed.

Trump acknowledged that Hannity, who joined Donald Trump on the campaign trail and supported him on his Fox News program, had been supportive.

“(The FBI) will probably find a note from me telling his how proud I am and what a great job he’s doing as president… maybe a nice note from you, Sean,” Trump said.

The January 6 committee investigating the attack on the U.S. Capitol by Trump supporters said it is in possession of text messages in which Hannity offers advice to the former president’s chief of staff during that violent uprising to stop the certification of President Biden’s electoral win. Hannity, who told his audience there were reports that “groups like antifa” may have dressed-up as Trump supporters to attack the Capitol, has called that bipartisan congressional committee a “sham.”

There had been reports in recent weeks of Rupert Murdoch brands like Fox News distancing itself from the former president. But the network’s primetime performances Monday night seemed to indicate the right-wing cable channel remains loyal to the former reality TV star. Laura Ingraham, whose Fox News show follows “Hannity,” said Monday that should the Republican party regain power, there should be revenge.

“When we get power back, it’s time to hold everyone accountable,” she said.
