Russia’s invasion of Ukraine this year has further highlighted the vulnerability of global food security to geopolitical disruption of supply chains. As members of the Biosecurity Research Initiative at St Catharine’s (BioRISC) at the University of Cambridge, UK, we argue that necessary transport route changes must be accompanied by effective biosecurity measures against invasive species and pathogens.
