Wordle 670 3/6

⬜⬜🟩⬜🟩 GRACE
⬜🟨🟩🟨🟩 STALE
🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 PLATE

My Wordle gameplay looks quite different from that of the average player. I can’t make my first guess until my hair and makeup are done and the lights and camera are set up in the makeshift studio that has taken over my apartment. With over one million followers on TikTok waiting to watch me play every day, Wordle has become more than a game for me — it’s performance art.

My first guess has to help me solve the puzzle but also grab the attention of viewers. Unlike last week when my intros included “Wordle but I’m starting with SWIFT because I’m going to a Taylor Swift concert” and “Wordle but I’m starting with BANGS because I just got this new haircut,” I don’t have anything exciting going on today. I settle on GRACE because, well, it’s the first word that comes to mind when I press record.

I see a green A and a green E. Do you know how many words fit this structure? The Wordle player in me is scared: I don’t use filler words — guesses solely for the purpose of eliminating letters — so I could lose this. The content creator in me is excited: This could make for a dramatic video.

I’m combing through my mental list of five letter words that could work: FLAME, STALE, SLATE, SKATE, SHAPE, HEAVE, WEAVE — the list goes on. I decide to play it safe and guess STALE, relying on the trusty R, S, T, L, N and E.

As the yellow and green letters are revealed, the Wordle player in me feels a surge of satisfaction. I see a yellow T and a yellow L, which means I’m on the right track. But the content creator in me is slightly disappointed — it’s not shaping up to be a dramatic video. It seems like the word is PLATE.

Before I submit my guess, I have an epiphany — ELATE is also an option. My viewers know that I love a fun word. But they also know that I despise getting Wordle in four guesses — it just feels so average. Today, my desire for a three-guess win outweighs my love for fun words. I go with the safe option of PLATE.

I give this Wordle two stars: I was hoping for a word with a little more PZAZZ (one of my favorite starting words — try it out). How did you do today?

Today’s word is PLATE. According to Webster’s New World College Dictionary, it’s a noun meaning “a smooth, flat, relatively thin piece of metal or other material.”

Today’s puzzle is easy.

The letter pattern in today’s word is unique enough that the answer can be found using elimination strategies within six guesses, and the word is very familiar vocabulary with no letter repeats.
