Never before has an incoming South Korean president had so little political experience and no foreign policy experience. Incoming President Yoon Suk Yeol assumes the role at a time of increased tension with North Korea. He is expected to be more friendly towards the US and Japan, while going hard on China and North Korea, a sharp departure from outgoing President Moon Jae-in who strived for peace talks with the North.
