The main building at Castle Hill Inn was built in 1875 for a marine biologist and naturalist at Harvard University. The most prestigious room is the rounded turret suite, a bi-level suite with breathtaking views of Narragansett Bay and the Castle Hill Lighthouse.

Grace Kelly Beach is where the famed actress would take a dip while filming “High Society” in Newport in 1956 with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.

During our tour, we visited The Dining Room, an elegant, curved space that boasts extraordinary views and serves dinner daily.

The Terrace Bar, reminiscent of a ship’s hull, has clear vinyl windows that roll up and down so that guests can enjoy the space rain or shine.

The lawn is open to the public and has Adirondack chairs that are first come, first served. Visitors can enjoy sunset cocktails or an afternoon light bite as sailboats drift across the water.

Bicycles are complimentary for guests to use at their leisure and are ideal for a morning ride along the legendary Ocean Drive.

The Castle Hill Lighthouse, built in 1890, sits at the westernmost point of Newport at the mouth of Narragansett Bay and often serves as the starting point or finish line for various regattas.

The trails leading to the lighthouse are wide and cleared, but study footwear is recommended – you’ll discover some boulders and tree roots embedded in the path along the way.

A Relais & Châteaux property, Castle Hill Inn boasts a critically acclaimed dining program, perhaps best known for the six-course prix fixe menu with ingredients from the on-site gardens.

The inn is located on Newport’s famed Ocean Drive, a 10-mile windy stretch along the rocky coastline with jaw-dropping scenery.

Just steps from the private beach, Castle Hill Inn’s beach houses feature panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean. We felt the views would be best enjoyed out on the deck.

The handsome Mansion Bar inside the Agassiz Mansion is especially cozy in the winter months.

The Mary Walsh room, located on the west end of the Agassiz Mansion on the second floor, is one of the more simplistically decorated rooms but enjoys a full view of Narragansett Bay and is just steps from the spa.

Rooms are stocked with local bath products by Farmaesthetics, and many feature both soaking tubs and walk-in showers.
